BUTIREX C4 is a sodium salt of butyric acid used in animal feeds. This product acts on the small intestine, namely on duodenal, jejunal and ileal villi, and on the large bowel.
Mechanisms of action:
Increases feed intake – a similar odour to that of maternal milk stimulates voluntary intake in young animals.
Increases pancreatic enzyme secretion – volatile fatty acids (VFA) stimulate pancreatic juice secretion. Butyric acid produces the highest level of amylase secretion.
Acts on the intestinal microflora – stimulates the growth of the beneficial microflora and inhibits the growth of the pathogenic microflora, thus improving microbiome balance.
Acts on intestinal villi – increases the size of intestinal villi (30%), nutrient absorption surface area and intestinal enzyme secretion (40%).
