Feed operators for animals manufacturers of additives, additive premixes and compound feeds registered or approved under article 9 or 10 of Reg.(EC) No. 183/2005, as well as manufacturers of medicated feed authorized for shelter from D.L. 151/2005 have to demonstrate the effectiveness of the mixers with regard to homogeneity by carrying out tests which are mandatory.
In the context of the manufacture of animal feeds that incorporate critical additives and/or pharmacologically active substances, such as coccidiostats or veterinary drugs, Good Manufacturing Practices recommend that potential cross-contamination and inevitable entrainment during the manufacturing process.
Given the legal obligation to control the homogeneity of the mixture and the importance of controlling the degree of inevitable transfers between manufactures, the Laboratory performs the analyzes inherent to these procedures and supports the client in the technical interpretation of results. The tests can be performed simultaneously, through the quantification of trace elements, additives, pharmacologically active substances or micromarkers (Microtracers) of metallic particles.
MICROMARKERS (Microtracers)
The Laboratory has available a Mixture Homogeneity and Cross-Contamination Test KIT that includes the necessary materials to carry out the tests as well as the practical protocol. A report is drawn up with the results and conclusions in accordance with the Manual of Procedures - Homogeneity and Cross-Contamination in the Manufacture of Animal Feed -DGAV.
