Under the terms of Regulation (EU) No. 1169/2011, provision of information on allergens in pre-packaged and unpackaged foods is mandatory. A list of ingredients responsible for the majority of allergic reactions to food products has been compiled. The requirement to provide information on allergens also applies to unpackaged products, such as foods served in restaurants and cafés.
